TOWER SECTION ASSEMBLY

A tower section consists of and is normally transported as four separate legs, forming the tower chords, and sixteen separate flat triangles, forming the four sides.

Unassembled these twenty pieces are very compact for transportation, indeed a std. flatbed truck is maxed out by weight rather than by dimensions; a rare occurrence for tower sections.

Rather than assembling the tower in the air, it is faster, safer and more economical to pre-assemble the tower sections on the ground using just a small hydraulic crane.  A large mobile crane is the used to stack the fully assembled tower sections on top of each other.

To avoid congestion at the central site, pre-assembly can be done where space is available, with the tower sections being hauled in as they are needed.
